"I Want To Be #1 On Google!" (Part 1)

I receive requests all of the time to come up with solutions to improve someone’s ranking in the search engines. Most of the time, after someone has received multiple emails from companies promising 1st page results for a ridiculous amount of money. Beware of companies promising you these results for $100.00! I can tell you before you waste your money that it is not going to happen.

It takes a combination of hard work, time and expertise to achieve 1st page results in the search engines and it does not stop there. In order to keep your 1st page ranking, you have to continue to do what got you there in the first place. A majority of people do not understand what is involved with obtaining these types of results and with more people utilizing the internet to raise awareness about their products and services, the task of dominating certain keywords in the search engines has become more challenging.

The Time Factor:
Consider some of the tasks involved with bringing awareness to your web site:

  • Your Meta Tags must be optimized and communicating effectively with the search engines and the content on your web site must be relevant to your Meta Tags.
  • You need to draft and submit “eye catching” Press Releases to the search engines.
  • Expertly crafted Blogs are critical to your success and the “Headlines” must grab the potential reader’s attention right out of the gate.
  • The content within the blog must have the keywords that you are attempting to dominate with perfectly placed links driving people back to your web site, blog and social networking profiles.
  • Research is vital to all of the tasks mentioned above and this requires a lot of reading.

The Easy Way Out
How are you going to find the time to perform all of the tasks mentioned above and still run your business? Some people opt to run their own Google AdWords campaigns or pay a company to run them for them. Pay per Click (PPC) advertising works when properly executed, but requires a considerable amount of research to guarantee the overall success of the campaigns. When your advertising budget runs dry, so does your presence within the search engines. More importantly, do you want to drive traffic to your web site for the sake of traffic or do you want to establish campaigns that are going to bring people to your web site that have “commercial intent?”

Listing Solutions’ Tip:
Create and run four (4) different Google Adwords campaigns with different keywords for each one. Measure the success of these campaigns to determine which keywords are going to drive the most traffic to your web site. THIS IS THE KEYWORD THAT YOU SHOULD BE TARGETING NOW!

    • Do you guys run Google campaigns for the general public? What do you think of backlinking? When are you posting part 2?
